Tapellaria Müll.Arg.

TAPELLARIA Müll.Arg., 1890

Type : Tapellaria herpetospora Müll.Arg. [=T. molleri (Henriq.) R.Sant.]

Description : Flora (1985: 564–565).

Tapellaria, formerly included in the family Ectolechiaceae (Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004;), but now apparently accommodated in Pilocarpaceae (Andersen & Ekman 2005 – though no species of Tapellaria were included in their analyses; Eriksson 2005), comprises c. 12 species of widely distributed tropical foliicolous lichens (Santesson 1952: 494–509; Vězda 1986: 212; Kalb & Vězda 1987: 305–311; Farkas & Sipman 1997; Lücking 1992, 1998b, 1999a; Lücking & Kalb 2001). One species is known from New Zealand.
