Key
Toninia is a widespread genus included in the family Ramalinaceae (Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004; Eriksson 2005) and comprises c. 50 species worldwide, including several host-specific lichenicolous taxa (Timdal 1991, 2002c). Species show crustose, commonly squamulose growth forms, and occur on rock, soil or other lichens. Six species are recorded from New Zealand, although the genus is still poorly collected and understood here.
