Coelomycetes ciliata

C. ciliata Kalb in C. Gierl & K. Kalb, Herzogia 9: 632 (1993).

Description : Lichenicolous, parasitic on apothecia of host lichen. Similar to C. lichenicola (see below) but conidia are thicker and with filiform appendages at apices of conidial branches.

S: Canterbury (Bealey Spur near Arthur's Pass, Boyle River Lodge). Parasitic on apothecia of Haematomma hilare (Kalb et al. 1995: 203). Known also from Tasmania where it parasitises the apothecia of Dibaeis cretacea (Gierl & Kalb 1993: 632; Kalb et al. 1995: 203).

Host : Haematomma hilare.

* Cornutispora ciliata is characterised by: the lichenicolous habit; host preference (apothecial discs of Haematomma hilare); and the filiform, appendages formed at the apices of the conidia.
