Nephroma cellulosum var. isidioferum

Nephroma cellulosum var. isidioferum. Holotype: New Zealand. Otago, Flagstaff, 1200 ft, on Fuchsia excorticata, J.S. Thomson T1884 – CHR.
Description : Flora (1985: 314 – as Nephroma lepidophyllum).
Chemistry : Hopane-6α, 22-diol (zeorin), perlatolic acid and unidentified pigments.
S: Nelson (Maruia Valley); Canterbury (Nina Valley, Otepatatu Reserve, Banks Peninsula, Peel Forest); Otago (Leith Valley, Flagstaff); Southland (Sutherland Falls). On bark of Fuchsia and Leptospermum, Nothofagus and Podocarpus in shaded, humid habitats; rarely on rocks, 300–600 m. Still poorly collected in New Zealand. Known also from southern Argentina, Chile, and eastern Australia (White & James 1988; Kantvilas 1990c; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Nephroma cellulosum var. isidiophorum is characterised by: the corricolous habit; the coarse, terete, squamiform phyllidia along ridges between faveolae, at lobe margins, and fringing margins of apothecia.
