Herb, glab. or nearly so, with simple or sparingly branched slender creeping stems, rooting at nodes, ± ascending at tips, us. not > 15 mm. long. Lvs subsessile, rather thick; lamina ± orbicular, rather coarsely sinuate-dentate in upper half, dark green, often purplish below, 4-8 × 4-8 mm. Fls ± 8-12 mm. long, on very slender erect peduncles 5-6-(10) cm. long. Calyx cleft to nearly 1/2 way, c. 4 mm. long; lobes very narrow-triangular, acuminate, c. 2 mm. long. Corolla ± 8-10 mm. long, white to pale blue; lower lobes obovate-oblong, ± apiculate, upper linear-oblong, acute; 2 lower anthers awn-tipped. Capsule 6-9 × 3-4 mm., narrow-obovoid to turbinate.
DIST.: S. Higher montane to subalpine grassland and herbfield from about lat. 43° southwards.
