Epilobium pedunculare var. brunnescens Cockayne

Var. brunnescens Ckn. in T.N.Z.I. 50, 1918, 171.

Stems often tinged brown; petioles ± 3 mm. long; lamina ± 9 mm. long, ovate-oblong to suborbicular, becoming tinged brown when exposed to bright light; calyx-lobes narrow-oblong, brownish; capsules ± 5 cm. long; peduncles up to 7 cm. long.

DIST.: Cockayne gives the distribution as from Mount Egmont to Four Peaks, Canterbury, but indicates no type. Specimens reasonably answering the description have been collected as far north as 35° lat.
