Var. cartilaginea (Petrie) Cheesem. Man. N.Z. Fl. 1925, 669,

A. cartilaginea Petrie in T.N.Z.I. 47, 1915, 49.

Type locality: Mount Rakiahua. Type: W, D. Petrie.

Lvs 6-9 cm. long; pinnae us. 2 pairs, 3-4 cm. × 2.5-3 mm., canaliculate; midrib conspicuous, broad, yellow, margins much thickened, cartilaginous, yellow; apex very pungent. Stems up to 2 dm. long, us. shorter; umbels 5-6, crowded.

Dist.: St. Wet grassland and herbfield.

The whole complex of forms needs further study.
