Epilobium krulleanum

E. krulleanum Hauss. Mon. Gatt. Epilob. 1884, 305, t. 23, f. 95.

Type locality: St. James Station, Amuri. Type: K, Kirk No. 655, under E. alsinoides.

Stock woody, emitting several to many stems arcuate and woody at base, then ascending to erect, up to ± 15 cm. tall, bifariously pubescent. Lvs approximate to rather distant, opp., rather suddenly narrowed to broad ± sheathing petioles up to 3 mm. long. Lamina ovate to ovate-oblong, 8-13 × 4-5-(7) mm., dark green, often purplish, sts glaucescent, subcoriac., ± rugulose below, glab., margins entire or with a few obscure denticles. Fls ± 5-6 mm. diam., approximate in uppermost axils; calyx 3-4-(5) mm. long, lobes ovate-lanceolate; petals pale rose, (3)- 5-6 mm. long. Capsules glab., rather stout, purple, 20-30 mm. long; peduncles very short, not > lvs. Seeds densely papillose.

DIST.: S. Montane to subalpine streambeds, wet rocky places, damp grassland and herbfield from lat. 42° to 44° 30'.
