Leifidium Wedin

Type : Sphaerophorus tener Laurer [=Leifidium tenerum (Laurer) Wedin]

Leifidium, a monospecific genus, is included in the family Sphaerophoraceae (Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004; Eriksson 2005) now in the order Lecanorales (Wedin & Tibell 1997; Wedin et al. 1998, 2000a; Wedin & Döring 1999; Döring & Wedin 2000a, 2000b; Wedin 2001b; Eriksson et al. 2004). A common and widespread lichen in forested areas of New Zealand. It is discussed in Murray (1960a), Tibell (1984a, 1987, 1997) and Wedin (1993a, 1995b).
