Lecanactis meiophragmia (Nyl.) D.J.Galloway

Holotype: New Zealand. Sine loco (prob. Wellington). Charles Knight. H-NYL 1721! Labelled by Knight "Platygrapha mecistophora Kn."

Thallus greyish-white or pale olivaceous, in bands or patches, to 5 cm diam., minutely granular-papillate to ± effuse or abraded, ± areolate-cracked in parts, not semi-immersed, round to irregular, 0.1-1.0 mm diam., shallowly convex, red-brown, translucent when wet. Epithecium pale brownish, 3-5 µm thick. Hymenium colourless, 100-120 µm tall. Hypothecium brown-black, 90-130 µm thick. Paraphyses slender, apices capitate, brownish, to 3 µm diam. Asci clavate 68 × 10 µm. Ascospores fusiform, 12-18-septate, ends pointed, straight or curved 61-75 × 2-3 µm. Chemistry: K+ yellow → orange, C-, KC+ orange, Pd+ orange. Norstictic and connorstictic acids.
