Type locality: Summit of Mount Rakiahua. Type: W, P. Goyen.

Stock and branch-bases woody; branches densely compacted, forming greenish cushions or mats up to 1 m. diam. and 20 cm. tall. Lvs densely imbricate, 3-4 × 0·5-1 mm., linear-oblong, widened and truncate at apex, 1-nerved, dorsal surface with brush of long hairs near base, glab. above; ventral surface glab. below, with brush of straight hairs at tip, exceeding and concealing lamina. Capitula 3-5 mm. diam. Inner phyll. linear, c. 2.5 mm. long, scarious on margins, obtuse to acute, tips erect, often white. Achenes < 1 mm. long, clad in stiff hairs; pappus-hairs c. 2.5 mm. long, stiff.
