Epilobium linnaeoides Hook.f.

E. linnaeoides Hook. f. Fl. Antarct. 1, 1844, 10, f. 6.

Stems slender, sparingly branched, up to ± 20 cm. long; branches glab, or faintly bifariously pubescent. Lvs opp., on petioles up to 4 mm. long; lamina (6(-8-12 × 6-12 mm., suborbicular to broadly ovate-oblong, thin, membr., pale green, glab.; margins rather closely and sharply toothed. Fls 4-7 mm. diam.; calyx-lobes lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, < petals; petals white to pale rose, deeply cleft, ± 6 mm. long, colour often deepening on drying. Capsules 25-50 mm. long, glab.; peduncles 5-10 cm.; seeds densely papillose.

DIST.: N., S., St., A., C., Ant., M. Lowland to higher montane damp places, throughout.
