Var. sessilifolia.

Lvs forming ± well-defined rosette; lamina c. 1-2 × 1-2 cm.; multi-cellular hairs very ∞ and mostly non-glandular on upper surface, scattered on and between veins on undersurface and there often gland-tipped. Cauline lvs often 0. Bracts 1-2-(4) pairs. Hairs on peduncle and pedicels long and gland-tipped. Calyx 8-9 mm. long, the posterior lobes mucronulate and separated by shallow clefts; hairs ∞, multicellular and mostly gland-tipped. Corolla 1·5-2 cm. diam.

DIST.: S. From Arthur Pass and Craigieburn Mts southwards to Fiordland. Moist and rocky mountain slopes.

Type locality: Mt. Brewster [near Haast Pass], 5-6000 ft. Type: K, Haast, 38.

Specimens of this var. growing with var. splendida, and especially those with longer lfy stems, have been placed under O. glandulosa because of the long glandular hairs on the infl., but they differ greatly from that sp. in shape and indumentum of basal lvs.
