Lecanora chlarotera Nyl.

L. chlarotera Nyl., Bull. Soc. linn. Normandie. sér. 2, 6: 274 (1872).

Thallus pale grey or green-grey or greyish-white, smooth to granular, areolate or verrucose, spreading irregularly, 2-5(-8) cm diam. Apothecia very variable, 0.1-1.5 mm diam., disc pale to dark red-brown, matt, epruinose, margins smooth to wrinkled-crenulate, concolorous with thallus, medulla and thalline margin containing clusters of angular oxalate crystals. Ascospores broadly ellipsoid, 12-15.3 × 6-10.2 µm. Chemistry: Atranorin and unidentified UV+ substance.

N: S: Throughout, on tree bark, fenceposts, predominantly lowland.
