Rubus caesius

ζ*R. caesius L.

ζ*R. caesius L. ζ*, dewberry, has been collected once from a hedge in Akaroa, Banks Peninsula. A scrambling shrub; stems ± terete and somewhat pruinose. Leaflets 3, with scattered hairs on upper surface and only sparsely pilose on veins and not tomentose on lower; terminal leaflet lamina elliptic to ovate-elliptic, slightly lobed, crenate. Infl. densely hairy, with subsessile glands; sepals tomentose, clasping fr. Although this sp. belongs to a different subsect. of subgen. Rubus it still crosses with members of the R. fruticosus agg., the hybrids formed are termed Rubi Corylifolii. (Europe, 1988).
