Juncus antarcticus Hook.f.

J. antarcticus Hook. f. Fl. Antarct. 1, 1844, 79, t. 46.

Plant to 12 cm high. Leaves ± = stems. Inflorescence usually a single cluster of 2-10 flowers. Tepals usually black. Stamens 3, rarely 6. Capsule c. 3mm long, ± = tepals, black.

N. Mt Egmont; Hawkes Bay; Wellington. S., St., A., C. In boggy ground; alpine from 450 to 1600 m but descends to sea-level in Otago and the Subantarctic Is. (Australia)
