Stereocaulon delisei
Description : As for S. corticatulum (q.v.) but with soredia loosely capitate on clusters of minute, corymbose, apical branchlets. Apothecia not seen.
Chemistry : Thallus K+ yellow, C−, KC−, Pd−; containing atranorin, rangiformic, and norrangiformic acids, and an unidentified fatty acid.
N: Northland (Maunganui Bluff), Auckland (Waitakere Ra.). On coastal and inland rocks, s.l. to 1500 m, still rather poorly known here. Known also from Great Britain, Europe, Scandinavia Madeira, South and East Africa, Central and South America (Kershaw 1960; Lamb 1977; Swinscow & Krog 1988; Purvis et al. 1992; Santesson 1993; Coppins 2002b; Santesson et al. 2004).

Stereocaulon delisei is characterised by: the saxicolous habit; loosely tufted pseudopodetia, 1–1.5(–3) cm tall; soredia in loosely capitate soralia, on clusters of minute, corymbose, apical branchlets; and a chemistry of atranorin, rangiformic, and norrangiformic acids, together with an unidentified fatty acid.
