Sphaerocionium Presl Hymen. 1843, 33, as genus.

Fronds bearing branched or occ. simple hairs. Sori immersed; indusium us. deeply 2-valved; receptacle not exserted. About 50 spp., mostly tropical. Type: Trichomanes hirsutum L. Sp. Pl. 1753, 1098.
