Hedera colchica

ζ*H. colchica (K. Koch) K. Koch ζ*, fragrant ivy, has been collected only once, from a shaded river bank, Ashburton R., Canterbury. A climbing perennial; young shoots and petioles always green, with (18)-20-30-rayed, scale-like hairs. Lvs dark green, distinctly fragrant when crushed; lvs of non-flowering shoots often very large, up to 25 cm long, ovate, distinctly cordate, usually not lobed or only very slightly lobed. H. colchica is sometimes cultivated and further naturalisation might be expected. (Asia Minor, Caucasia, 1958).
