Ranunculus pinguis Hook.f.

Tufted perennial, 5-25 cm tall; rhizome stout. Lvs rhombic to reniform, shallowly 3-5-(7)-lobed, fleshy, glabrous or hairy, 2-8 cm diam.; lobes often crenate. Fls solitary, 2-3 cm diam.; pedicels erect, usually pilose at least above. Sepals spreading, hairy. Petals 5-10, yellow, narrow, usually < sepals; nectary usually single, c. 5 mm from petal base, naked. Receptacle glabrous. Achenes very numerous, not flattened, glabrous, rarely pilose; body 1.5-2 mm long; beak straight, c. 2 mm long.
