Solanum robustum

ζ*S. robustum Wendl.

ζ*S. robustum Wendl. ζ* was collected wild on Mt Wellington, Auckland, in the 1930's but this conspicuous sp. has not been found since and presumably died out or was eliminated. A shrub c. 2 m high with a brown stellate indumentum; stems winged and with large flattened prickles; lvs large, prickly, lobed, brown-tomentose below; cymes lacking prickles; corolla 2-3 cm diam., white, stellate-tomentose outside; berries 1-1.5 cm diam., orange, globose, stellate-hairy. (Brazil, 1974).
