Capitula heterogamous, mostly radiate, corolla mostly yellow; disk-florets tubular, perfect or staminate; ray-florets pistillate or neuter. Pappus chaffy or of 2-4 scales or bristles, or absent. Style-arms ± hispidulous, flat, often with cluster of hairs at junction; stigmatic lines rather poorly developed. Anthers obtuse to sagittate or acute at base. not tailed. Phyll. in several series, not scarious on margins. Mostly herbs or soft-wooded plants.
