Carex kirkii Petrie var. kirkii

Var. kirkii

Plants usually ± 10 cm high. Stems much < leaves and mostly hidden by leaf-sheaths. Inflorescence 1-1.5 cm long.

S. N.W. Nelson - local; Canterbury - head of S. Ashburton River; Central Otago. Wet ground in snow-tussock grassland; subalpine to alpine.
