Lepraria neglecta (Nyl.) Lettau

L. neglecta auct. 

Thallus grey-white to dark grey or ± blackened, often in neat rosettes, of ± discrete granules or becoming minutely squamulose, especially at margins, in irregular hummocks, following contours of substrate, 1-5(-8) cm diam. Chemistry: Atranorin, stictic, constictic, peristictic and norstictic acids.

S: Nelson to Fiordland. St: (Mt Anglem). Primarily among mosses or in soil in rock crevices in exposed, alpine habitats, mainly east of the Main Divide. A common component of fellfield vegetation on the mountains of Canterbury and Central Otago, 1500-3000 m.
