Leaves with lobes linear-lanceolate, gradually tapering, 17–22(25) cells long or more on mature leaves and terminating in (3)5–7 superposed single cells that are little elongated, the lobes (5)6–8(11) cells wide at the base; lobe margins of vegetative leaves entire or with an occasional tooth (rarely 2) per lobe, the teeth short, stiff, only occasionally abaxially displaced when present; disc base on one or both sides usually with a long, often tortuous or reflexed lobe-like lacinia; surface smooth or imperceptibly roughened.
Distribution and Ecology : The variety may represent a mere meso-hygrophytic extreme of Temnoma quadripartitum (Schuster, 1967a). The variety occurs in southern South America, Marion Island, St. Paul Island and one New Zealand station—along a watercourse at 1315–1435 m on Mt. Hector, Tararua Ra.
