Carex cockayneana Kük.

C. cockayniana Kük. in Cheesem. Man. N.Z. Fl. 1906, 836.

Stems to 60 cm long, often drooping. Leaves > stems; sheaths red-brown. Female spikes c. 5, ± distant, ± pedunculate, to 7 × ± 1 cm, red-brown or greenish-brown. Utricles scarcely nerved when mature. Stigmas 3.

N. Near Wellington City. S. Nelson; Marlborough Sounds; Westland; Fiordland. Montane to subalpine stream-margins and snow-tussock grassland.
