Hainardia Greuter

Hainardia Greuter, 1967

Monotypic; Mediterranean to western Asia; the sole species is naturalised in New Zealand and also in Australia.

The genus was formerly known as Monerma P.Beauv. which is considered to be a superfluous name for Lepturus R.Br. [Greuter, W., in Greuter, W. and Rechinger, K. H. Boissiera 13: 177-178 (1967)]. However, see Scholz, H. Feddes Repert. 106: 169-171 (1995) on the status of Monerma relative to Lepturus.
