Hebe macrocarpa (Vahl) Cockayne & Allan var. macrocarpa

Var. macrocarpa.

Type locality: "Nova Zelandia". Type: ?

Fls white, sepals obtuse to subacute, racemes much > narrow-elliptic lvs.

DIST.: N. Auckland province, becoming rarer towards south, probably extending to Taranaki. S.?

FL. 5-12.

The white-fld H. macrocarpa is by no means uniform; especially distinct is a narrow-lvd form with quite glab. lvs and stems from higher parts of Coromandel Range from Moehau to Castle Rock. Records for northern South Id await confirmation; Banks and Solander in Primitiae Florae Novae Zelandiae note Totaranui as well as Opuragi and Tolaga; in W are specimens that might belong here from near Collingwood and Karamea.
