Aira cupaniana

ξA. cupaniana Guss. ξSlender, 10-15 cm. Panicle 3.5-8 cm, delicate, open. Spikelets silvery green. Glumes 2 mm, mostly denticulate and often mucronate. Lemma ½ to ⅔ length of glumes, awned from lower ⅓; lower lemma mostly awnless. Callus hairs minute, c. 1 mm. Anthers 0.3 mm. A species of southern Europe twice collected from one locality in the Wither Hills, Marlborough, in danthonia grassland A. J. Healy 13.10.1944 (CHR 45385) and 26.10.1966 (CHR 172970). The first collection was a depauperate plant.
