Xylographa perangusta

X. perangusta (Stirt.) Müll.Arg., Bull. Herb. Boissier 2, App. 1: 76 (1894).

Arthonia perangusta Stirt., Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 14: 470 (1875).

Holotype: New Zealand. Wellington, ad corticem, J. Buchanan 131 – GLAM. Isotype – WELT [Tinakori Hills, viii.1873, J. Buchanan 131].

Description : Flora (1985: 621).

N: Wellington. Known only from the type collection, where it is associated with Porina exocha.

Also recorded from Chile (Follmann 1962; Galloway & Quilhot 1999).

Austral

Xylographa perangusta is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the olive-green to greyish, areolate thallus on smooth bark; innate, brownish black to black, round, oblong to rarely stellate apothecia; 8–10-spored asci; and small, spherical ascospores, 2 μm diam.
