Description : Flora (1985: 359).

Chemistry : Cortex K+ yellow; medulla K−, C+ rose, KC+ red, Pd−; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin, gyrophoric acid and unidentified fatty acids.

N: Northland. On coastal trees and shrubs, still very poorly collected in New Zealand. Known also from East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) and Madagascar (Krog & Swinscow 1975, 1981; Swinscow & Krog 1988).

Pantropical

Parmotrema lophogenum is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the membranaceous, loosely adnate thallus; the lobulate or crenate–lobulate central lobes; inflated, pustulate isidia; and gyrophoric acid in the medulla.
