Thallus polyphyllous, corticolous. Lobes loosely to firmly attached or spreading onto bryophytes, adjacent or imbricate, linear or cuneate, 2-4 × 0.5-1 mm diam., not ascending at apices, upper surface pale to medium grey-brown to fawn, pruinose, pruina in punctiform or irregular scattered patches on distal parts of lobes. Lower surface white to pale brown, usually with thin tomentose layer of dark brown hyphae medially, rhizines dark brown, sparse. Perithecia with black ostioles on upper surface, wall colourless but with brown patches here and there. Ascospores 12-18(-20) × 5-7 µm with a few pseudosepta.
N: Wellington (York Bay). Rather rarely collected from bark of forest trees, probably more widespread.
