Pseudephebe, included in the family Parmeliaceae (Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004; Eriksson 2005), comprises two species (Lamb 1964; Hawksworth 1972b; Brodo & Hawksworth 1977; Kantvilas 1994b), both of which are found in New Zealand. It is truly bipolar (Galloway & Aptroot 1995) and also circumpolar in both hemispheres.
