Lecanactis redingeri. Holotype: New Zealand. Wellington, Feilding, Podocarpus forest, on old bark of Cordyline australis near base of trunk, 3.vii.1935, H.H. Allan ZA 3220 – W. Isotype – CHR 378576 [Egea & Torrente (1994) cite W material as isolectotype following Galloway (1985a: 207) in designating CHR material as lectotype. However, the W material is Zahlbruckner's holotype and as such takes precedence over the 1985 lectotypification].

Lecanactis pallens. Lectotype: New Zealand. Otago, Mihiwaka near Dunedin, on Dacrydium cupressinum, J.S. Thomson W 74 – CHR 378 574 [fide Galloway (1985a: 207)]. Isolectotypes – ?OTA, W.

Descriptions : Flora (1985: 208; 207 – as Lecanactis pallens and Lecanactis redingeri). See also Egea & Torrente (1994: 104–105).

Chemistry : Thallus K− or K+ yellow-orange, C−, KC−, PD−; containing schizopeltic (major) and lepraric (minor) acids.

N: Northland to Wellington. S: Otago (Dunedin, Catlins). St: (Port Pegasus). On bark of Beilschmiedia taraire, Corynocarpus laevigatus, Dacrydium cupressinum, Leptospermum scoparium, Metrosideros excelsa, Nothofagus menziesii, N. solandri, Wienmannia racemosa in lowland and mainly coastal forest. Material earlier recorded from Tasmania (Jatta 1911; McCarthy 2003c, 2006) is now considered to belong to Sarrameana albidoplumbea (Kantvilas 2004j: 202).

Lecanactis subfarinosa is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the granular, roughened, areolate to effuse, whitish, pale greenish, grey-white or yellowish green thallus; dispersed to crowded apothecia, 0.5–2.5 mm diam., with white to brownish grey or bluish pruina; 6–7(–8)-septate ascospores, 29–50 × 3–5.5 μm; and schizopeltic (major) and lepraric (minor) acids.
