Hypotrachyna dactylifera

H. dactylifera (Vain.) Hale, Smiths. Contr. Bot. 25: 30 (1975).

Description : Flora (1985: 197–198).

Chemistry : Cortex K+ yellow; medulla K−, C−, KC+ rose, Pd−; containing atranorin, colensoic, norcolensoinic, 4- O- demethylphysodic, physodic and lividic acids.

N: Northland. On rocks, and bark of Beilschmiedia tarairi. Still very poorly known in New Zealand. Known also from Mexico, Central and South America, India and Thailand (Hale 1975; Awasthi 1976; Kurokawa & Moon 2000; Aptroot 2002e; Nash et al. 2002b; Wolseley et al. 2002).

Pantropical

Hypotrachyna dactylifera is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the densely developed, simple to coralloid, pustular isidia; and colensoinic, norcolensoinic, 4- O- demethylphysodic, physodic and lividic acids in the medulla.
