Tall, stout. Leaf-blade adaxially long hairy; culm internodes glabrous except short hairy below inflorescence; rachis antrorsely short hairy; lemma abaxially with long stiff teeth.

S.: Marlborough (Leatham River). In light shade of hardwood scrub/forest on limestone debris and derived soil; 600 m.
