Holotype: New Zealand. Near Wellington, J. Buchanan 114 – GLAM. Isotype –?WELT.

Description : Flora (1985: 320–321).

Chemistry : Thallus K+ yellow→red, C−, KC+ red, PD+ orange; containing salazinic acid (major), stictic acid (tr.), and constictic acid (tr.).

N: Wellington. S: Otago (Flagstaff). On bark of Myrsine australis. Still poorly collected.

Endemic

Ocellularia hians is characterised by: the corticolous habit; 8-spored asci; colourless, ovoid–ellipsoidal, 5–9-septate ascospores, 26–34 × 6.5–8.5 μm; and salazinic acid in the medulla. Matsumoto (2000: 41) synonymises O. hians with Thelotrema subtile, without having seen the type of Thelotrema hians.
