Erechtites quadridentatus var. lanceolus Kirk
Type locality: Lincoln, Canterbury. Type: W, T. Kirk.
Stems up to ± 5 dm. long, sulcate, ± clad in loose tomentum, becoming glab. or nearly so. Lower lvs up to ± 10 cm. long, including petiole much < to almost = lamina, c. 5-15 mm. wide; lanceolate to linear-lanceolate; margins distantly obscurely to distinctly dentate to subentire, subacute; sparsely to densely clad above and below in white cobwebby tomentum. Upper lvs similar, not auriculate; uppermost linear, merging into bracts of infl. Infl. laxly subcorymbose; capitula ∞, c. 8 mm. long, 6 mm. diam.; phyll. c. 6 mm. long; florets c. 20. Achenes c. 2 mm. long, striate, scabridulous; pappus-hairs c. 5 mm. long.
