Thelotrema monosporum

Description : Flora (1985: 575).

Chemistry : TLC−, all reactions negative.

N: Auckland (Waitakere Ra.), Wellington. Canterbury (Banks Peninsula), Otago (Waitati, Dunedin), Southland (Te Anau). Still very poorly collected and understood in New Zealand. Known also from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Java, Hawai'i, Cook Is, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Australia (Salisbury 1972a; Hale 1981; Filson 1996; Elix & McCarthy 1998; Wolseley et al. 2002; McCarthy 2003c, 2006). European material formerly referred to this taxon (Salisbury 1972a; Hawksworth 1992c) is now referred to T. macrosporum P.M.Jørg & P.James rvis et al. 1995: 347–348).

Thelotrema monosporum is characterised by: the corticolous habit; emergent apothecia; brown, muriform, thin-walled ascospores (1–4 per ascus), 120–190 × 20–40 μm; and negative thallus chemistry.
