Epigloea soleiformis
Description : Perithecia globose, (70–)90–140(–150) μm diam., with a distinct depression around ostiole, green-black or grey-black, with a colourless, gelatinous coat 4–15 μm thick. Asci (35–)40–55(–60) × 8–10.5(–12) μm, 8-spored. Ascospores 1-septate, ellipsoidal with a slight constriction centrally, appearing soleiform, (8.5–)9.5–12.5(–14) × 3.5–4.5(–5) μm.
C: (Mt Honey). On rock outcrops and feldmark, parasitising gelatinous algal colonies on decaying bryophytes, associating with Stereocaulon caespitosum, three undescribed species of the genera Micarea, Poeltinula, and Rhizocarpon (Fryday 2000c: 30). Known also from Europe, Great Britain, the United States and Marion I. (Döbbeler 1984: 230; David 1992a; Nimis 1993: 292; Sérusiaux et al. 1999: 32; Buck & Harris 2002: 84; Coppins 2002b; Nimis & Martellos 2003).
