Pyrenopsis tasmanica

P. tasmanica Nyl., Syn. meth. lich. 1 (1): 97 (1858).

Description : Thallus brown-black, thin, effuse, wrinkled, diffract-glomerulate. Apothecia immersed in thalline glomerulae, becoming crowded, concolorous with thallus. Ascospores ellipsoidal to subglobose, 4–5 × 2.5–3 μm.

S: Known also from Tasmania where it occurs on granite rocks (Nylander 1860; Filson 1996; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Australasian

Pyrenopsis tasmanica is characterised by: the saxicolous habit; the thin effuse, diffract-glomerulate thallus; apothecia immersed in thalline glomerulae; and ellipsoidal to subglobose ascospores, 4–5 × 2.5–3 μm.
