Cladonia humilis

C. humilis (With.) J.R.Laundon var. bourgeanica A.W.Archer, Muelleria 7: 3 (1989).

Description : As for var. humilis (above) but distinguished by the presence of bourgeanic acid.

Chemistry : Cortex K−, C−, KC−, Pd+ red; containing fumarprotocetraric and bourgeanic acids.

S: Otago (Mt Cargill). Known also from Australia (Archer 1989; McCarthy 2003c, 2006). For discussion of this taxon see Archer (1989: 4).

Cosmopolitan

Cladonia humilis var. bourgeanica is characterised by: the short, broad, simple, partly corticate, floury-sorediate cups; and the presence of bourgeanic acid.
