Carex kirkii Petrie var. kirkii

Var. kirkii

Type locality: Mt Pisa, head waters of Luggate Creek, 4,000 ft. Lectotype: AK, 2480, D. Petrie, Feb., 1885; isotype at K.

Culms 1–2–(4) cm. long, much < lvs and hidden for the most part by the lf-sheaths. Lvs 3–12–(20) cm. × c. 0.5 mm., involute. Infl. 1–1.5 cm. × c. 5 mm., us. subtended by a lf-like bract.

DIST.: S. Nelson, Cobb Valley, Clarence Valley; Canterbury, mountains at head of South Ashburton R.; Central Otago; from 900–1,800 m. altitude.
