Ochrolechia thelotremoides

O. thelotremoides (Nyl.) Zahlbr., Cat. lich. univ. 5 (5): 701 (1928).

Lecanora thelotremoides Nyl., Lich. Nov. Zel.: 64 (1888).

Holotype: New Zealand. Sine loco, [probably Wellington], 1867, Charles Knight 61 – H-NYL 25233.

Description : Flora (1985: 323).

Chemistry : Cortex K−, C+ pink (fleeting), KC−, Pd−; disc C+ rose; containing gyrophoric acid.

N: Wellington. S: Southland (Dolamore Park). On bark of Hoheria and other shrubs, still very poorly known and collected.

Endemic

Ochrolechia thelotremoides is characterised by: the corticolous habit; a thin, granular–uneven to papillate white or creamish, corticolous thallus; prominent impressed–innate, thelotremoid apothecia, 1–1.5 mm diam., with prominent margins and a grey-white-pruinose disc (C+ rose); and oblong to subfabiform ascospores, 25–35 × 7–9 μm.
