Cladonia sulcata var. striata

C. sulcata var. striata A.W.Archer, Muelleria 6: 386 (1987).

Description : As for C. sulcata but differing in containing norstictic acid in place of psoromic acid.

Chemistry : K+ weak yellow, KC−, Pd+ weak yellow; containing atranorin, bourgeanic, norstictic, cryptostictic (tr.), constictic (tr.) and stictic (tr.) acids

N: Northland (Karikari Peninsula). Auckland (Whatipu, Waitakere coast). On soil. Known also from Australia (Archer & Bartlett 1986; Archer 1992b; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Australasian

Cladonia sulcata var. striata is characterised by: the grooved and splitting podetia; and the presence of bourgeanic and norstictic acid.
