Graphis anfractuosa

S: Westland (Aorangi Reserve, Greymouth). Collected only once in New Zealand (by William Martin, CHR). Known also from Florida, Dominica, Brazil, Japan, Hawai'i, Borneo and Australia (Magnusson 1955; Nakanishi 1966; Hayward 1977; Wirth & Hale 1978; Kantvilas 1990c; Harris 1995; Archer 2001b; Staiger 2002; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Graphis anfractuosa is characterised by: the corticolous habit; a grey-white continuous, thin thallus; very long lirellae (to 8 mm long) with a closed base; ascospores 8–11-locular, 25–45 × 6–9 μm; and no secondary chemistry.
