Microcalicium conversum

N: Gisborne (Mt Honokawa) to Wellington (Ohakune). S: Nelson (Nelson Lakes National Park) to Southland (Longwood Ra.). On lignum of beech (Nothofagus fusca, N. menziesii, N. solandri), occasionally on bark of beech and Libocedrus, 150–940 m. Known also from SE Australia, southern South America, and California (Tibell 1987, 1998a; Tibell & Ryan 2004i).

Microcalicium conversum is characterised by: the lignicolous habit; the short-stalked apothecia; the greenish colour of the mazedium; and the distinctively ornamented spores.
