Key
Steinera is a Southern Hemisphere genus of four species confined to the subantarctic islands (Kerguelen, Crozet, Auckland, Campbell and Macquarie) and extending into alpine and subalpine areas of southern New Zealand (Henssen & James 1982). It is included in the family Coccocarpiaceae (Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004; Eriksson 2005). Four species are known from New Zealand.
