Biatorella epiphysa

Lectotype: New Zealand. Near Wellington, J. Buchanan 131a – GLAM [fide Galloway (1985a: 39)].

Description : Flora (1985: 38–39).

N: Wellington. Known only from the type collection.

Endemic

Host : On species of Arthonia.

* Biatorella epiphysa is characterised by: the lichenicolous habit (on species of Arthonia); minute (0.1–0.4 mm diam.), convex, gelatinous, shining, translucent, hemispherical, immarginate, yellow-brown to brown-black or red-brown, solitary, scattered apothecia; and numerous spherical (2 μm diam.) ascospores.
