Dracophyllum pearsonii Kirk

D. pearsonii Kirk in T.N.Z.I. 17, 1885, 223.

Type locality: original specimen "collected either on Codfish Island or in Chew-tobacco Bay". Type: W, W. L. Pearson.

Erect, much-branched; bark dark grey; branchlets ± 5 cm. long, ascending, densely clad in imbricate lvs. Sheath 4-(6) × 2-(4) mm., ciliolate, passing by subtruncate shoulder into stout glab. linear-subulate lamina ± 2-2.5 cm. × 0·5-1·5 mm.; margins minutely denticulate, apex pungent. Infl. of 3-6 fld racemes 12-20 mm. long, near tips of branchlets. Lower bracts lflike, up to ± 10 mm. long. Sepals ovate, acuminate, ciliolate, persistent, < corolla-tube. Corolla-tube c. 3 mm. long, ovate-triangular, acute. Capsule obovoid.

DIST.: S., St. Montane to subalpine bog, shrubland, herbfield; Fiordland from lat. 45º 30' southwards.
